Our Story

From Kagoshima to Your Ritual

Sourced from the volcanic soils of Kagoshima, Japan, our matcha is a reflection of patience, craft, and intention. We work closely with multi-generational farmers who cultivate Okumidori leaves at peak season, producing a matcha that is naturally smooth, vibrant, and deeply nuanced.

At Archives Of Us, we don’t just serve matcha—we build rituals around it. Every tin represents the same standard we hold in our cafés: uncompromising quality, quiet precision, and an experience meant to be remembered.

First Harvest Okumidori

Cultivar

Okumidori is a rare Japanese tea cultivar known for its smooth, naturally sweet profile. Unlike common cultivars, it’s harder to grow and even rarer to find in organic form. Less than 1% of farms in Japan produce certified organic Okumidori. Grown without shortcuts—just pure craftsmanship and volcanic soil.

Kagoshima’s volcanic soil, enriched by centuries of ash from nearby volcanoes, creates a uniquely mineral-rich foundation for tea cultivation. This environment gives our matcha its deep umami, natural sweetness, and refined complexity.
